Vampire bits… One from The Munsters: Grandpa

Gandpa is the father of Lily Munster in the 1960’s The Munsters TV show –considered a comedy classic– that ran for two years, about 70 episodes, from 1964 to 1966. Within a satire of monsters movies and family entertainment, this often sarcastic vampire is a family member, doting father and grandfather, critical father in law, and generally unsuccessful inventor. His name is supposed to be Sam Dracula, Count of Transylvania, born in 1367. His old age –ancient it is said– is often mentioned in the show, he refers to have known a bunch of ‘historical’ people. No vampiric drama for this delicious character, that wears formal clothes and sleeps upside-down.

I didn’t remember him! But him being a vampire was never discussed in the show… or I didn’t watch enough episodes?
